Styling a jumpsuit

I truly believe in getting the most mileage out of your wardrobe as possible - make it work for you! This style inspiration blog post is focused on the little black jumpsuit or #lbj. I have tried on jumpsuits in the past, but never found one I loved enough to buy, until recently. Below are over 10 ways you can style a #littleblackjumpsuit from casual errand running to holiday party ready.

The jumpsuit I am wearing is the Gus Sloan Original Little Black Jumpsuit. This company focuses on doing a few things really well and it has paid off!

It's a simple style with slim legs and you slip into it through the neck opening. Best feature of all...there are pockets. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love pockets in dresses, so having them in the jumpsuit is right up my alley.

All the styling I'm showing here are with pieces I already have in my wardrobe {I have added links to the items or similar items where I can}. I encourage you to use this as inspiration and get creative with what you already have!

Layering a lace top under gives a charming romantic twist! It's also nice to have that extra layer in the winter.

1. Wear it with some patent leather pumps and a sparkly bracelet for a Christmas party or date night.

2. Add a long vest to make a perfect shopping or lunch with some friends outfit.

3. Make it casual with a jean jacket and cute sneakers, but still have the romance of the lace peeking out.

Let's get sporty with these looks! In all of them I am wearing the cutest velvet sneakers with ribbon laces!

4. I've added a transparent tank to give the layered look and did a side knot to give it some shape.

5. Add on a fitted jean jacket to add some warmth while running around doing errands.

6. Same look, just without the tank layered in!

Want to wear it to the office? Here are a few business worthy options.

7. Layer a cropped, looser fitting top. This gives it a dress-pant look. Add some booties and a long necklace to finish the outfit.

8. Get down to business with this office appropriate look by adding a blazer and some pumps. I went with a bolder red pair here, but you can do any colour!

9. With the neutral black of this jumpsuit, don't be afraid to add colour in. Here I've added a mid-length cardigan in a colour from my colour palette that I feel amazing in.

A few final looks!

10. Layering a stole/blanket scarf can bring an elegance to the jumpsuit - this is a cashmere stole I bought in Scotland a few years ago.

11. Going back to the jean jacket, adding a scarf is another great way to add some colour to your outfit!

12. This ankle length cardigan is one of my favourites as it brings an elegance to the jumpsuit! I've also brought a wild side by adding a leopard print belt (I love this new belt by Unbelts!)

I hope you feel inspired, whether you have a jumpsuit or not. You can also take these ideas and wear them with a black pant and top combination.
