Get Out Of Your Style Rut

Have you ever found yourself in a Style Rut?

It’s a gloomy day as I sit down to write. It’s been this way for a few days, and lately I’ve had some pretty heavy stuff on my plate. The silver lining, however, is that I’ve got a day ahead with no meetings on the calendar.

Initially, I toyed with the idea of just throwing on some comfy clothes. You know, the kind that instantly puts you in chill mode. As I thought about the tasks at hand, I realized I need to step up my game if I want to make some real progress in my business. I've come to know myself pretty well - if I slip into those laid-back threads, I tend to take more breaks and lose focus quicker.

So, I made a decision to follow my own advice and go for a dress that's comfy yet boosts my confidence. It turned out to be a game-changer. Wearing that dress prevented me from slipping into the whole "relax and chill" mentality I was headed for, and boy, did I need a day of productivity and laser focus.

This whole experience got me thinking about how many folks come to me because they're stuck in a style rut. It's not that they don't care about how they look; life just has this funny way of shifting priorities, and before you know it, you've lost touch with your own style.

Guess what? If you've ever been there, you're not alone. We all hit a style rut at some point in our lives.

But hold on a sec - jumping straight into a shopping spree isn't exactly the answer. When you shop on impulse, those new clothes often end up hanging in your closet with tags still attached, or you wear them once or twice and then they lose their magic.

So, what's the play here? Let me break it down into three easy steps to help you kickstart your journey out of that style rut and get your groove back:

1. Closet Cleanse: First things first, dive into your wardrobe and do a little evaluation. Toss out the stuff you don't wear anymore, those items that don't fit right, or anything that just doesn't vibe with your style goals. This step will give you a clearer picture of what you've got to work with.

2. Mix It Up: Don't be afraid to get a little creative here. Experiment with mixing different styles or pairing up clothing items you wouldn't normally think of. Sometimes, the coolest outfits come from the most unexpected combos.

3. Style Goals: Set yourself some style challenges. It could be something as simple as trying out a new outfit you've never rocked before, dabbling in a current trend, or mastering a specific style aesthetic.

I understand how easy it is to get stuck in a funk and make it worse by dressing the part. Sometimes, all it takes is a little nudge to get back on track.

Consider this your friendly push in the right direction. If you find yourself needing more guidance, our Style Foundations session or "Master Your Style" online course are both great places to start!

Don’t forget, your style is an expression of your unique personality, and sometimes, just tweaking your wardrobe choices a bit can do wonders for how you feel and how you present yourself to the world. Embrace this opportunity to reignite your style journey and reconnect with your inner self - you've got this!

Cheering you on,
